Onlyfans, an online entertainment subscription service, has announced the development of a non-fungible token (NFT) technology-based feature. Onlyfans members can now use authorized NFTs as their profile images, thanks to a new feature that went live on Thursday.
Onlyfans Enters the World of NFTs
Onlyfans, a London-based video subscription service, is recognized for providing direct financing to content artists, one-time tips, PPV features, and, of course, NSFW content.
Onlyfans revealed this week that it is experimenting with blockchain technology in order to allow users to display their NFTs. According to Reuters, Onlyfans CEO Ami Gan stated that the change is intended to empower the platform's users.
"Our objective is to inspire innovators to realize their full potential," Gan told Elizabeth Culliford of Reuters. "With this feature, we'll be able to see what role NFTs can play on our platform."
When it comes to joining the NFT industry, Onlyfans is behind the eight ball, as a slew of well-known firms and well-known brands have already jumped in. Furthermore, the verified NFT profile feature on Twitter is identical to the notion of the Onlyfans NFT profile. Last month, Twitter introduced the feature.
Alphabet's (Google) ambitions to research blockchain and Web3 technology were reported on by Bitcoin.com News on February 6. Furthermore, YouTube, an Alphabet company, issued a blog post describing its plans to use non-fungible tokens (NFTs). Instagram's CEO, Adam Mosseri, has stated that the company is looking into NFTs, and sources claim that Meta is also experimenting with the technology.
According to Onlyfans CEO Ami Gan, the NFT support will be for Ethereum-based NFTs, and an Ethereum logo mark will be there to indicate that they have been confirmed. The company did not say whether it would support other blockchains that use NFT technology in the future.
